There’s a lot of traffic on the road these days making you come to a complete stop. This means that there’s a lot of idling as well. For this reason, we’re happy to tell you a bit about Chevrolet’s Automatic Stop-Start feature, a technology that is designed to assist with efficiency.
Auto Stop-Start technology can turn off the engine and restart it when you’re ready to move. It is designed to help you save money at the gas pump.
Let’s take a closer look:
During certain driving conditions when a vehicle equipped with Automatic Stop-Start technology is stationary, such as at a stop sign, the engine will turn off and the tachometer needle with move to the Auto Stop position. The vehicle remains fully functional when Auto Stop is active. The result of this innovative technology is that your engine is running when you don’t need it.
When you move your foot off the brake to the accelerator, the engine restarts instantly so that normal driving can resume. Auto Stop-Start only works when the vehicle is at a complete stop and there are some conditions where it will not engage. These conditions include:
If the engine or transmission is not at the required operating temperature
If the outside temperature is not the required operating range (below -10° C or above 50° C)
If the shift lever is any gear other than Drive
Or when the battery is low
Finally, the Auto Stop-Start feature can be easily disabled by those who’d prefer not to use it.
